Meet Murray

Murray Brown, owner of MB Wine Services, working in a winery.

From Scotland to the Vineyards

My route into wine wasn’t a straight line. After spending time in the United States pursuing a professional football career, I returned home to Scotland and began studying horticulture in Edinburgh. That was where my fascination with how grapes are grown and how wine is crafted and brought to life first took root.

A part-time job at a local theatre bar led to my first WSET qualifications. From there, wine took me to Australia to work in wineries and eventually through WSET Level 3, the French Wine Scholar and an MSc in Viticulture and Oenology.

More than ten years on, that experience shapes the knowledgeable and down-to-earth service I bring to every wedding and event.

Why MB Wine Services Began

In early 2023, my wife Emily and I had the joy of getting married. While planning our own wedding and choosing wines that felt personal, meaningful and genuinely enjoyable, the idea for MB Wine Services came to life.

I wanted to create the kind of service we would have valued ourselves: thoughtful advice, carefully chosen drinks and someone dependable handling the practical details—from the first conversation through to delivery.

Today, MB Wine Services brings together more than ten years of industry experience with a warm, personal approach. It is a family business at heart, with Emily supporting me behind the scenes and the values we share—care, honesty and reliability—running through every event.

Whether I’m matching wines to a menu, guiding a couple through their tasting or coordinating drinks with a planner, caterer or venue, my aim is simple: to make everything feel effortless and memorable.

Family at the Heart of It

MB Wine Services may carry my name and face, but it is very much a family business. Emily supports me behind the scenes, and the life we are building together is at the heart of why the business matters so much to me.

Away from wine, I’m happiest spending time with Emily, our little boy Kai and our spaniel Angus  —usually exploring the hills, enjoying the garden or heading to a country concert.

That sense of family, fresh air and simplicity keeps me grounded—and shapes the personal, down-to-earth way I look after every client.
