Hello — I’m Murray, the founder of MB Wine Services. My path into the world of wine wasn’t straight forward. After spending time in the United States pursuing a professional football career, I returned home to Scotland ready for a new direction – studying horticulture in Edinburgh, it was there that I first discovered a fascination for how wine is grown, crafted, and brought to life. This eventually led me to the world of viticulture.

During university, a part-time job at a local theatre bar sparked something unexpected. It was there that I completed my WSET Level 1 & 2 qualifications and discovered how much I enjoyed helping people explore and understand wine.
That early interest took me across the world to Australia, where I worked in wineries, completed WSET Level 3, the French Wine Scholar, and later an MSc in Viticulture and Oenology. Each step deepened my passion for the craft — and shaped the expertise I now bring to my clients.

In early 2023, I had the joy of getting married. It was during our own wedding planning — choosing wines that felt personal, meaningful and delicious — that the idea for MB Wine Services truly came to life.
I’d been fortunate to visit extraordinary wineries across Australia, New Zealand, England, France, and Spain, and had seen how much artistry and care goes into every bottle. I wanted to bring that same sense of discovery and excitement to couples, hosts, and venues here in Scotland.

With over 10 years of industry experience, I’ve learned that exceptional wine service is as much about understanding people as it is about understanding wine. Today, MB Wine Services combines deep expertise with a warm, personal approach — creating tailored selections for weddings, celebrations, and private clients who want something thoughtful, seamless, and genuinely enjoyable.
Whether it’s matching wines to a menu, guiding a couple through their tasting, or curating bottles for a celebration, my goal is simple: to make the experience effortless and memorable.

Outside of wine, I love spending time in the hills with my wife, our little boy Kai, and our pup Angus. You’ll often find us at a country concert, exploring the countryside, or enjoying time together in the garden. Those moments of family, fresh air and simplicity keep me grounded — and they’re a big part of what inspires the personal, down-to-earth approach I bring to the business.
